Picture the scene: It’s 1987. Dale Armstrong is a 22-year-old plumber working to provide for his growing family. And he’s had enough. Not of plumbing. Not of working hard.
He’s had enough of people being treated carelessly. Of his boss forcing him to break promises he made to his customers. He’s had enough of his integrity being ignored. He doesn’t like that his customers, real people he cares about, are being brushed aside.
So he decides that, despite the risk to his young family, from now on, he’ll make or break his own promises. TLC is born. A husband and a wife (and a truck), go to work.
Now, if you ask Dale or Gail Armstrong today if they started out to build the largest plumbing, heating, cooling, and electrical company in the state, they’ll say, “No way!” They were just trying to uphold their integrity, feed their family, and take care of the people in their community.
To this day, TLC’s purpose (the reason we exist) is to improve the quality of life for our employees and the community as a whole.
This people-first mentality is why TLC has grown to employ more than 300 New Mexicans in Albuquerque and Santa Fe. We truly believe that taking amazing care of our employees means they’ll take amazing care of you, our customer! And that philosophy has not let us down.
In fact, growing employees and their dreams is core to who we are. Prior to 2024, TLC was also in the civil construction business. It became clear that the construction team was more than a department. They were ready to be their very own company! Individual Employee Licensing
It’s common practice for all the technicians in a company to operate under a master license (usually belonging to the owner). We simply don’t believe in that philosophy. We believe every single technician should be individually licensed. That is why all of our employees are either licensed or in the process of earning one.
24/7/365 Emergency Service
For some reason, stuff never goes wrong at a convenient time (thanks a lot, Murphy!) The AC goes out during the biggest corporate event of the summer. Your drains backup like five o’clock traffic when the inlaws visit. The power shorts out right when the baby needs a bottle at 2 AM.
That’s why we offer 24 hours a day, 7 days a week emergency services (yes, we really mean that). No matter when you call us, a live person will answer the phone. Emergencies don’t care about the time, so neither do we!
