With a severe drought underway across the Southwest, it is no surprise that authorities in Albuquerque, Bernalillo and Santa Fe have banned the sale and use of most consumer fireworks. Though you and your family might not be able to set off your own fireworks or build a bonfire this year, you can still enjoy sparkling explosions! Several public fireworks’ displays are scheduled in celebration of our independence.
The game scheduled at Isotopes on the 4th will conclude with a beautiful fireworks display. What better way to celebrate Independence Day than to watch a baseball game, eat good food and enjoy the dazzling fireworks show? It’s the perfect family-friendly activity for Independence Day! Admission is $16 – $28. You may want to purchase tickets in advance in case the event sells out.
Balloon Fiesta Park
The Freedom 4th event at Balloon Fiesta Park in Albuquerque will feature the largest fireworks show in the state! The entertainment schedule starts at 4 PM and features both local and world-famous artists, including Jo Dee Messina. The fireworks will start at 9:15 PM. The event is free for the whole family, with the exception of a $10 parking fee. There will be food vendors and free activities for the kids. According to the City of Albuquerque, this is a rain or shine event.
Rio Rancho Fireworks Extravaganza
Maybe fighting the crowds at Isotopes or Balloon Fiesta Park isn’t your preference. No worries, you don’t have to miss the fun! The fireworks show at Loma Colorado Park in Rio Rancho might be a better option for you and your family. Bring a picnic dinner or buy food from vendors on site. This is a relaxed, family-friendly event that start at 5 PM and ends at 9 PM.
Santa Fe Place Mall
Santa Fe residents can expect festivities as well! The City of Santa Fe and the Santa Fe Downtown Kiwanis Club have put together a fireworks display event that will take place at the Santa Fe Place Mall. Take the whole family and enjoy food trucks, entertainment and fireworks!
Extreme fire danger doesn’t have to spoil your holiday! Your family can still take part in the explosive tradition that has marked United States independence from the beginning. Whether your budget permits a trip to the ballpark or a picnic in Rio Rancho, there is a fireworks’ show for you. Have a safe and happy Independence Day!
