Producing a Skilled, Motivated and Happy Workforce
TLC provides a 4 year Apprenticeship Program that offers students a chance to work full-time and earn a competitive wage while they learn a professional trade and go to college and/or trade school. TLC is committed to developing young professionals for our industry. In 2006, TLC began the apprenticeship program with the intention of helping young men and women develop the necessary skill set and education to allow them to be successful individuals in our work force.
We are always actively reaching out into our communities’ throughout the state of New Mexico and surrounding areas to recruit highly qualified individuals who may be interested in joining our team. We bring existing employees into our Apprenticeship program after they have had the chance to gain some experience at TLC. We are seeking men and women with high character attributes that believe in hard work, honesty, respect, compassion, and consistency; who believe that they can succeed in a high paced, challenging and rewarding work environment. We have made a big commitment to actively seek to hire and retain the top 5% of the available workforce available in our industry and we are looking for those individuals who want to join us in our commitment to attain and retain the “Best People and Best Systems” in our industry.
Once accepted into the program, the apprentice’s first year is all about developing life skills: e.g., setting goals for professional and personal development, money management techniques, leadership development, work and life balance, healthy eating and fitness habits, customer service and human relationship skills, creating and developing a budget that will help you live the life that you desire, building credit that will allow you to purchase a home or vehicle.
The second phase of the program, years 2, 3 and 4 allow the apprentice to choose a career path e.g., becoming a journeyman plumber, a heavy equipment operator, an HVAC tech, a project manager, an auto or diesel mechanic, an accountant, or administration, to name a few of the fields. It’s here where apprentices start classes at one of several established educational institutions while still working full time at TLC. TLC pays for all schooling and books as long as TLC’s Higher Standards Commitment is met.
