Types of Solar Energy
Grid Tie Photovoltaic Systems (PV) - These systems are specifically tied to the utility company’s grid so there is no energy storage needed. You utilize the energy you generate and when you produce more energy than you use the excess energy goes into PNM’s grid. You also receive credit from PNM for the energy that goes into the grid. These panels are specifically designed to generate electricity. Electricity collected from (PV) systems provide all or part of your electricity, reducing your energy bill by up to 100%.
Thermal - These types of solar systems generate heat to be utilized for hot water and/or to heat your home.
